Abstract :

Performance testing is popularly defined as testing that is performed to determine how fast some aspect of a system performs under a particular workload. In other words, testing of productivity, conducted to evaluate the compliance of a system or component with specified performance requirements. Traditionally, Performance Testing was primarily a reactive domain, used to quickly determine the cause after an application slowdown has occurred and reported. However, currently Performance testing has progressed from being a reactive and poorly executed IT service, to a critical function, which organizations are readily executing to ensure the smooth functioning of their applications, as well as the robustness of their web-sites. Organizations are increasingly approaching independent testing entities to address their growing needs and challenges. Whilst focusing on these changing trends, this presentation highlights various performance issues and costs, industry views on software performance views, current technologies and the future options for tool development, process compliance, AND the ever-changing requirements of the performance testing labs.
