Abstract
:
“SOA
and Web2.0 – Confluence and Synergies”
SOA adoption
has traditionally been inside-out with focus on application
integration, interoperability and flexibility to compose applications.
Web 2.0 on the other hand focuses on the architecture of “participation”,
providing end users the freedom to compose and collaborate.
However,
Web 2.0 is not limited to providing rich clients to web applications
/ services. It includes creating information models which
are easy for humans to use and also the machinery for mining
the intelligence out of the information.
There
is an overlap between SOA & Web 2.0 : REST-style services,
the combination of RSS feed, readers, pipes, tagging &
wiki / blogs. It is not a serendipity that this overlap relates
rather nicely with Even-driven Architecture!
Taken
together, the ideas in SOA & Web 2.0 would help us design
new value configurations such as Value Shop & Value Networks
(rather than mere Value Chains) to effectively deliver the
new business goals: Innovation, Agility, Growth!
