Applications Development, Project Management, Business
Development, Centre of Excellence and Shared Services
Development.

his last assignment, Mr. Sathyanarayana was the Co-Head
and Lead Consultant in the Testing Service Practice.

Abstract
:
A
typical project management view takes Scope, Schedule and
Cost as the aspects to be planned and controlled. In real
world Customers discover new business needs post the requirements
elaboration process, which changes Scope constantly. Very
few times, we have seen the development phase absorbing the
schedule impact. The testing phase is frequently asked to
make up to the originally agreed schedule (and not less often
at the same cost!). That is the challenge most Test Managers
face.
Should
we see the challenge as a project management problem or an
opportunity to relook at the process/methodologies being applied?
The thought that is presented recommends the second approach
and provides the 'critical few' to concentrate on to take
on the challenge.
