"
A Process Oriented Approach to Functional
Test Automation "
JayaPrakash Reddy Atla, Consultant,
Sierra Atlantic Software Solutions
Abstract:
Though
test automation is a solution to some
of the problems in testing it has its
own challenges in terms of required tools
and resources, integration into existing
test methodologies etc. How to overcome
these challenges and make test automation
successful? The answer lies in the process
that one follows during test automation.
The saying “The life is the sum
result of all the choices you make, both
consciously and unconsciously. If you
can control the process of choosing, all
aspects of your life would be under control.”
is more true and applicable to any software
product and decides both the lifetime
and quality of the product. Process driven
software development is a proven technique
and accepting the wide spread notion that
test automation scripts are akin to any
software product, it is imperative to
get the process right to have control
over the test automation project and the
quality of it’s end result. This
paper describes how do a well defined
process coupled with right approach could
deliver the results, is shown along with
the output of one such implementation.
