Is a principal staff engineer with Motorola Software Group - India, where he leads the software technology function. He is a PhD in computer science, from University of Central Florida, USA, with many years of experience in the industry . He has successfully introduced several software engineering tools & practices in the organization. Krishnan has worked on a range of software engineering areas: software reuse, architecture, product quality, usability, software security and testing.

Topic: "Usability Testing- Basic Principles and Methodology"

Usability testing attempts to characterize the “look and feel” and usage aspects of a product, from the point of view of users. Usability is easy to understand but difficult to define and implement. Even though many feels that it is easy for them to learn and understand they fail when it comes to implementation. The technology, standards and testing methodology play a major role in deciding the good testing strategy for usability.This presentation highlights the basic principles and simple approach and methodology for effective usability testing.

Mr. Srinivasan Desikan is Director of Quality Assurance at Agile Software Corporation Inc., Bangalore, and has occupied a variety of technical and management positions at Novell Inc., Wipro, Talisma and Siebel. He has been part of large testing and product-development teams, and has been in the field since 1989. He has vast experience in the areas of test automation, test management, test processes and in setting up test teams from scratch. He has delivered talks on testing at international conferences both in India and abroad. Mr. Srinivasan is a Founder member for STeP-IN Forum that conducts conferences on software testing. He is a author of best selling book Software Testing : Principles and Practice.

Usability Metrics are formal measurements that are used to rate the level of usability of a product. Metrics include how fast a user can perform a task, number of errors made on a task, learning time, and subjective ratings. This presentation talks on rules used to measure the usability; metrics on learnability, operability, understandability and also, other metrics used to evaluate impact of usability.

About Arunkumar Khannur
Mr. Khannur is a senior consultant, trainer and author. With 20+ years of experience in IT. He focused on quality and testing. Mr. Khannur provides consulting and training related services in India, China, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Argentina, and Srilanka. He managed testing in e-com projects, development projects, maintenance projects covering functional and non-functional tests including usability. He contributed as a member of SIG on Testing in SPIN, Bangalore.

Mr. Khannur, as an employee, worked for companies like - Wipro, Logica, Planetasia, and QAI. At present he is the Chairman and CEO of ISQT Process and Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore. Mr. Khannur has also provided his consulting services to more than 45 companies. As a trainer, he trained more than 8500 professionals in 33 courses in seven countries. He authored 4 books and fifth book Software Testing is ready for publication.

Mr. Khannur established test teams, process and practices in Planetasia and Logica. He is a founding member of STeP-IN forum. He participates frequently in International conferences as an advisory board member, a speaker or as a panelist.

Mr. Khannur's areas of interest in software testing include- Software Testing Techniques; Test related processes including TMM and TPI; Test Modeling; Test Strategy; Test Management. He is currently busy in giving final touches to knowledge portal on software testing, viz, www.givemedefect.com
